Welcome to our Classroom! Here is what is going on this month in Fourth Grade!
Religion:
With Lent ending this month, we will learn about Jesus' Passion and Resurrection. We will begin the journey through Eastertide...the 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead. We will walk with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, see what it was like to be Thomas and doubt Jesus' rising, and learn what Jesus did during his last 50 days here on Earth before ascending back up to Heaven.
Spelling:
DON'T FORGET homework is always due on Thursdays, with the test being on Friday! Only exceptions are when we have short weeks.
Language:
This month, we are reading a historical fiction book called Number the Stars. We read about two girls from different faiths, one Christian and one Jewish, who lived in Denmark during the Nazi occupation. The girls learn the true meaning of friendship as both risk their lives for each other. During the month, we learn new vocabulary, make predictions, learn background information, and take comprehension quizzes.
Social Studies:
By this time of the year, we have learned all the US States and Capitals. Now it is time to review ALL of them! We will also start our Missouri History Unit. We will start by learning about our state's geography by using both physical and political maps. Then we will learn about our state's interesting past, and how Missouri came to be!
Science:
This month, we are switching our focus to Earth Science. We will learn about what the Earth is made of, how earthquakes and volcanoes are formed, and about the different kinds of rocks that exist on the Earth's crust. Toward the end of the month, we will start learning about the solar system as well.
